The house is situated in the small, typical alpine village of Vieyes at the entrance to the Gran Paradiso National Park 9km from both Cogne, a popular winter and summer holiday destination, and Aymavilles in the Aosta Valley. The village is at the feet of the stunning Grivola, Gran Nomenon and Punta Trajo, and is a convenient base for day walks, multi-day trekking, cycling, rock climbing and mountaineering in summer, and in winter ski touring and cross-country skiing, and ice climbing. The downhill ski stations of Pila and Cogne are nearby.

The house, built from stone before 1792, in the centre of the village, is recognised for its traditional local architecture: it is structurally sound with large windows.
