Lampedusa: An island to discover
They say that the sea of Lampedusa is one of the 10 best seas in the world. It is common to admire the sea bottom from the surface till a depth of 30 metres, sometimes also till 40/50 metres, in fact many expert divers can be tricked and go deeper than they think. In Lampedusa you live by the sea and you live the sea: staying in a hotel that gives you a boat for rent is the best way to enjoy the innumerable astonishing beaches that you can find on the Southern coast of the island. This part gently slopes to the sea, while on the Northern side there are cliffs and caves perched over the sea.
Out of the harbour Cala Maluk, Cala Francese, Punta Sottile, Cala Creta with its natural pool of Mar Morto, follow one another, alternating promontories and gulfs. After Capo Grecale the Northern shore stands out, almost threatening to soften again after Capo Ponente, in the Southern side, offering small and charming bays like Cala Pulcino, Cala Croce or the famous Isola dei Conigli.
