In Mercatello sul Metauro (PU) there is a house that seems to have come out of a story.
Two units, two souls, united by the same breath of the stone and the quiet of its 4,000 square meters of land, between the front, back and sides of the property.
The smaller apartment, of about 110 square meters, was renovated in 2023: new systems, redone roof, reinforced floors, igloo, new interiors. The windows are made of wood, the energy class is B, the heat comes from a pellet boiler.

The historical part, about 300 square meters, is the oldest voice of the house: exposed stone, deep views, environments that seem to hold memories. Here the heating comes from a pellet stove and fireplaces, while the shutters, recently replaced, are made of metal.
Just inside the entrance, a staircase leads us to a kitchen with a large fireplace and a terrace, then a double bedroom, a bathroom, and a living room that opens onto a large terrace, almost suspended over the landscape.
On the second floor there are four bedrooms and a bathroom with shower; here too the bathrooms have been renovated in recent years.
The garden surrounds and protects the farmhouse, with its tall trees. In front of the house, across the road, there is another strip of land owned, where once the vegetable garden was cultivated and people bathed in the adjacent stream.
The property includes a wood-burning oven, an annex, garage and cellar. The water is municipal: the aqueduct was rebuilt by the Municipality a few months ago, right in front of it.

Appena nell’ingresso una scala ci conduce a una cucina con un grande camino e una terrazza, poi una camera matrimoniale, un bagno, e un salotto che si apre su un terrazzo ampio, quasi sospeso sul paesaggio.
Al secondo piano ci sono quattro camere e un bagno con doccia; anche qui i bagni sono stati rinnovati negli ultimi anni.
Il giardino circonda e protegge il casale, con i suoi alberi ad alto fusto. Davanti alla casa oltre la strada c’è un altro lembo di terreno di proprietà, dove un tempo si coltivava l’orto e si faceva il bagno nel ruscello lì adiacente.
Completano la proprietà un forno a legna, un annesso, garage e cantina. L’acqua è comunale: l’acquedotto è stato rifatto dal Comune pochi mesi fa, proprio lì davanti.
