蒙祖诺, Bologna (省)

the so called "Ospitale" is a building located less than one kilometre away from the town centre of Monzuno (betwen Bologna and Florence)  which has been kept  since ancient times (around the year 1000) by the "Vallombrosani" monks .It gaves shelter and provisions to peregrines travelling from Bologna toward Tuscany. Before and after the second world war it also gave lodging to an important painter and art critic Nino Bertocchi.
Nowaddays it is possible to admire the remains of the ancient original Romanesque Church. The porticooed courtyard can be accessed through a semi-circular stone portal that can be probably dated back to the fifteenth century

Monzuno (620 meters above sea level), in addition to being located on the "via degli dei"  ( http://www.viadeglidei.it/index.php?lang=en)historic route that connects Bologna to Florence ,  is easily reachable from Bologna (30 Km) and Florence (60 Km) thanks to the nearby motorway.

The HOSPITAL building is in a panoramic area and surrounded by greenery near the village.
